Kenya Environmental Lawyers (KELA), led by KELA President Kiprop Marrirmoi, joined President William Ruto and other dignitaries during the 9th Edition of the Kaptagat Forest Integrated Conservation event at Simotwo High School in Elgeyo Marakwet County.



The forum, held on 12th July 2025, brought together environmentalists, community leaders, and government officials to take part in the conservation of the Kaptagat Forest, a critical water tower, and biodiversity hotspot.
President Ruto reaffirmed the government’s commitment to forest restoration and climate resilience under the 10 Billion Trees Initiative.
KELA’s president emphasized the role of legal frameworks in combating illegal logging and promoting community-led conservation.
The event featured tree-planting exercises and the launch of various projects, e.g, Etio and Tirwane dam and issuance of improved livestock breeds.
