Vide a letter dated 22nd May 2024, KELA reached out to the chairperson Council of Governors, H.E MS Anne Waiguru highlighting the various adversities suffered from the impeding flash floods which ravaged the country in the recent months.
Through the letter, KELA recommended the urgent appointment and designation of County Climate Adaptation officers for the 47 counties who will be in charge of among other things;
- Coordinating efforts to assess vulnerabilities,
- Implement resilience-building initiatives
- Offering technical advice on adaptation mechanisms and strategies.
Additionally, they will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the adaptation measures and strategies put in place as well as adjust them where needed.
