The Environment and Land Court in Nairobi has halted the decision by the Kenyan government to lift ban on logging activities in forest plantations. Justice Angote delivered the ruling in a petition filed by the Law society of Kenya which sought to stop the lifting of logging ban which was in place since the logging moratorium was declared by the government in 2018. The court held that the petitioners and members of the public are entitled to participate in the making of laws and regulations. The court further directed the government to implement the recommendations by the Task Report on Forest Resources Management and Logging Activities which made far-reaching recommendations on sustainable and equitable forest resource management in Kenya.

Combating climate change demands combined efforts by all. On Friday 6th October 2023, we partnered with: Kenya Forest Service KFS, Kenya Wildlife Service KWS, Kenya Prisons, Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, Ministry of Water, Sanitation & Irrigation, Bomas of Kenya, Water Resource Management Authority, the Registrar of Tribunals, NGO's and members of the public as we took part in a tree growing exercise held at Ngong Road Forest -Bomas Block.

Planting trees is a vital step in our efforts to combat climate change and safeguard our planet for future generations.

Africa is on the frontlines of climate impact, experiencing rising temperatures, increased droughts, floods, and unpredictable weather patterns that disrupt livelihoods and threaten the well-being of millions. It is a testament to the resilience and determination of African nations that they have come together to confront these challenges head-on.

Ruto welcomed all delegates who responded to the call to attend the Summit. "I welcome everyone to the Africa Climate Summit. You have not just stepped into a conference hall but into the future. This is no ordinary summit," he said. "We are all convened here for the first-ever Africa climate summit so as to come up with solutions in tackling the climate crisis," he said.
